Mainstreaming environmental education in the teacher education curriculum in the Philippines

<span lang="EN-US">In the Philippines, environmental education (EE) is a mandate, and at higher level, teacher programs can serve as context for EE. During first semester of 2016-2017 school year, this pilot study tested lessons integrated with concepts principles using EE materials developed by department environment natural resources (DENR) among 2,420 third year students in eight institutions national network normal schools (3NS). Data were collected validated researcher-made test on principles. Qualitative data through class observations, focus group conversations, interviews, authentic student outputs, capstone projects. The t-test between pre-test post-test means (4,838) showed substantial improvement level 0.05 significance across all ten disciplines institutions. mainstreaming curriculum DENR searched was found effective enhancing students' competence terms Institutionalization cross-cutting inclusion policy strongly recommended.</span>
